This is an experiment in a 3D printed fastener system for light applications, as no matter how many 1/4” screws I have lying around, I always seem to need more (for pegboard and things.) With this system, you can quickly 3D print however many you need, whenever you need them, for less than a cent per piece.
The way these fasteners work is similar to snap rings, except without a tool. They’re quick to snap on and off and work great for lightweight applications, especially when multiple are used!
The downsides to be aware:
Weight capacity - for anything more than a few pounds, this might not be the right path
You need access to both sides of whatever you’re mounting to
You’ll want to print out the right length if you want a snug fit - in this file I’ve included an array of different lengths which should fit most conditions!
For printing, print with 100% infill and no supports
